Soccer Reschedules Lamar Match to Friday
BATON ROUGE – Due to the expected effects of Hurricane Harvey making landfall this weekend, LSU Soccer’s home match against the Lamar Cardinals has been rescheduled for Friday night with kickoff between the two unbeaten sides set for 7 p.m. CT at the LSU Soccer Stadium. Admission is free to the public.
The coaching staffs elected to meet Friday night in Baton Rouge after Lamar already announced Thursday the postponement of its previously-scheduled Friday home match against Southern Mississippi.
Both teams are both off to perfect 2-0 starts this season with LSU pitching back-to-back shutouts against Mississippi Valley State at home in its season opener last Friday by a score of 5-0 and away to Colgate on Sunday night by a score of 3-0. Lamar opened its season with a 6-0 win over Southern University before scoring a 3-1 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette on its home field in Beaumont, Texas.
After playing host to Lamar on Friday, the Tigers will be back on the road with a trip to Washington, D.C., next Thursday, Aug. 31, to battle George Washington with kickoff set for 4 p.m. CT at the Mount Vernon Athletic Complex.
