Two Pitchers Selected on Day 3 of MLB Draft

BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU junior right-handers Hunter Kiel and Doug Norman were selected Wednesday during the final day of the 2017 MLB Draft.

Kiel was selected in the 18th round (537th pick) by the Chicago White Sox, and Norman was chosen in the 25th round (737th pick) by the Cincinnati Reds.

Kiel, who transferred to LSU last fall from Pensacola State College, made 10 relief appearances on the mound for the Tigers this season, recording nine strikeouts in 6.1 innings.

Norman, a product of Fort Mill, S.C., made three relief appearances this season before suffering a season-ending elbow injury on February 26 versus Maryland.

Norman has made 47 career appearances at LSU –  including five starts – and he has a 6-2 mark and a 2.82 ERA in 70.1 innings with 49 strikeouts.
