Daigle to Compete in NCAA Singles Championships

ATHENS, Ga. —  For the second consecutive season, LSU men’s tennis’ Jordan Daigle will compete in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Singles Championships, beginning at 9 a.m. CT Wednesday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.  

No. 35 Daigle is 13-9 on the season and owned a 10-5 record on court one and defeated six ranked opponents during throughout the year. 

The senior will compete against Or Ram-Harel of Tulsa to open the championships. Ram-Harel is currently ranked No. 34 in the ITA singles rankings. 

“I am looking forward to a tough match tomorrow,” Daigle said. “Last time Ram-Harel and I competed against each other, he ended up on the better side of the match. It will be a difficult match, but I am excited to be in Athens and hope to end my collegiate career on a high note.”

Last season in the opening round of 64, Daigle fell to San Diego’s Uros Petronijevic, 6-7(2), 6-4, 6-3.

Recently, Daigle was named Second Team All-SEC and to the LSWA All-Louisiana First Team. 

Later in the week, he and doubles partner Justin Butsch will compete in the NCAA Doubles Championships. Daigle will try to become the first LSU men’s tennis player to be named a doubles All-American in three seasons.
