BATON ROUGE – LSU running back Leonard Fournette continues to get national recognition as he’s featured on the cover of this week’s Sports Illustrated.
The SI cover featuring Fournette is the first for the LSU football program since 2011 when Michael Ford was on the cover following the Tigers’ season-opening win over Oregon.
This week’s Sports Illustrated will be on newsstands starting tomorrow. The cover story on Fournette was written by SI senior writer Alan Shipnuck and focuses on how overcoming Hurricane Katrina and how becoming a father less than a year ago opened his eye’s beyond football.
Fournette leads the nation in rushing yards (1,022), rushing yards per game (204.4) and rushing touchdowns (12) as he’s helped the Tigers to a 5-0 overall record and a No. 5 national ranking. Fournette and the Tigers host 6-0 and No. 8 Florida on Saturday in Tiger Stadium.
