Athletics Honors 3.0 Student-Athletes Saturday
BATON ROUGE, La. – At halftime of today’s football game against Auburn, the LSU athletics department recognized 190 of its student-athletes who achieved a 3.0 or higher grade point average from the 2015 spring semester.
Put on by the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, 19 of LSU’s athletic teams were represented on the field of Tiger Stadium Saturday, with the Tiger and Lady Tiger Track & Field teams combining for 44 honorees.
“We, in the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes, are extremely proud of the academic achievements of our student-athletes,” CCACSA Executive Director Kenneth O. Miles said. “It is only one step towards academic success, but a critical one.”
In all, LSU increased its number from 2014 by 13, as last fall LSU recognized 177 student-athletes.
The Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes is a 54,000 square foot facility comprised of an academic affairs, student affairs and an information technology team, serving more than 530 student-athletes. The purpose is to provide an all-inclusive, student-centered support structure for all student-athletes from matriculation, through graduation and life beyond.
