Soccer Promotions for Thursday's 'Gold Game'
BATON ROUGE – Fresh off Sunday’s 1-0 home win over 15th-ranked Duke, the Tigers expect a raucous crowd at the LSU Soccer Stadium on Thursday night as they welcome Georgia to town for their SEC home opener in a match that will kick off at 6 p.m. CT on the SEC Network as it will be this year’s Gold Game and Student Point Night in Baton Rouge.
Fans are reminded to “Geaux Free!” to each of LSU’s seven remaining home matches in the 2015 regular season as admission is free at the LSU Soccer Stadium again this season, compliments of The Advocate.
Fans attending Thursday’s SEC home opener are encouraged to wear gold to the game to show their support for the Tigers. The first 250 fans through the gates at the LSU Soccer Stadium will be given a free LSU Soccer “Goal!” t-shirt. With the match also being this year’s Student Point Night, LSU students are encouraged to attend to receive their priority points toward the purchase of their football tickets. The first 250 students going through the gates will also receive free pizza and refreshments while enjoying the game.
“Our fans have been tremendous and have played a major role in our fast start to the season, and we invite them to come back out on Thursday night with our first SEC home game of the season,” said LSU head coach Brian Lee. “We have some great promotions lined up, but most importantly, we’re expecting good weather again that should make for a great college environment for another match day.”
The Tigers were off to their fourth-fastest unbeaten start to a season in team history at 4-0-2 through their first six matches before suffering their first defeat of 2015 with a 3-2 extra time defeat at Alabama in the 2015 SEC opener last Friday night. LSU bounced back in a big way with a 1-0 defeat of No. 15-ranked Duke on Sunday to improve to 5-1-2 for their 10th win all-time against a nationally-ranked opponent.
