Date Set for Shaquille O'Neal Golf Tournament

BATON ROUGE – The annual Shaquille O’Neal Life Skills Golf Classic golf tournament will be held on Friday, Sept. 18 at Carter Planation as O’Neal returns for his annual event which benefits the school’s Life Skills Program which bears his name.

The program, along with Student Affairs, work together to meet the needs of all LSU student-athletes by providing a comprehensive program that includes health and wellness, diversity, inclusion and civic engagement, career and professional development, as well as academic strategies.

The morning flight starts at 8 a.m. with the afternoon pairings beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Carter Plantation.

Every team will have their picture taken with the former LSU and NBA superstar and each player will receive an 8X10 of the picture in the mail. Plantation breakfast will be served prior to the morning round and Cajun lunch will be served to all players at noon. There will be appetizers served after the second round.

Awards will be given for: net score, gross score, closest to the pin, longest drive and hole-in-one.

A foursome is $1,000 ($250 per person) and payment must be made prior to day of check-in. Hole sponsorships are $550 and total cost for a hole sponsorship and to register a foursome is $1,550.

The Life Skills Program was developed by the Division 1-A Athletic Directors Association to help prepare student-athletes for the challenges of life beyond the playing field. Through workshops, service projects and social events, the Shaquille O’Neal Life Skills Program at LSU provides student-athletes information that will prepare them for the biggest game of all – the game of life.
