Lady Tigers Tennis Wraps Up SEC Weekend at Tennessee
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The No. 44 LSU women’s tennis team (8-4, 0-1 SEC) continues its opening weekend of Southeastern Conference play against Tennessee (8-5, 0-1 SEC) on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.
The Lady Tigers are closing out the opening weekend of SEC play after competing against No. 2 Georgia on Friday. Coach Sell saw improvement on all six courts but LSU ultimately fell 6-1.
“Every team in the SEC is so good,” head coach Julia Sell said. “We have to go into Knoxville ready to compete. Tennessee is solid from top to bottom. We improved a lot from our match on Friday and we have to bring that tomorrow.”
LSU goes into Knoxville down 14-26 all-time against Tennessee. Last season the Lady Tigers knocked out the Lady Vols in the first round of the SEC Tournament, 4-3.
Joana Vale Costa and Skylar Kuykendall lead the way for LSU as they are ranked 38th and 112th respectively. Vale Costa boasts a 5-4 record on court one this year and is 7-3 in her last 10 matches. Kuykendall is 10-2 on the year and dropped just her first match on either court two or three against the second-ranked Bulldogs.
