Women's Golf Vaults National Rankings After Win
BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU women’s golf team saw its national ranking take a tremendous jump forward based on Tuesday’s wire-to-wire victory at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate at English Turn Golf and Country Club in New Orleans.
The Lady Tigers posted the only under par round of the final day to win easily and saw their Golfstat performance ranking rise from No. 17 to inside the top 10 at No. 8 in rankings released on Wednesday.
LSU is one of just eight teams in the Top 20 with multiple team wins this season.
South Carolina is No. 1 followed by Southern Cal, Washington, Arkansas and Sugar Bowl runnerup UCLA in fifth. Duke and Northwestern are the two teams in front of LSU with Mississippi State and Virginia rounding out the top 10.
LSU will next play in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate March 6-8 in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
The Lady Tigers will host its annual LSU Tiger Golf Classic at the University Club in Baton Rouge, March 27-29. The course will also host one of the 2016 NCAA Women’s Regional events.
