Women's Tennis to Host Rice Sunday at 'The Dub'

BATON ROUGE, La. — The LSU women’s tennis team (8-2) returns home to face Rice Sunday at W.T. ‘Dub’ Robinson Stadium. Sunday was originally scheduled as a doubleheader but the second match has been rescheduled for March 11 against Nicholls at 4 p.m.

“We’ve had a really good week and we are excited to compete at home,” head coach Julia S. Sell said. “I like the progression we have had since the NC State match. I want to see them continue to compete hard and improve. We have to continue to improve before SEC play rolls around.”

LSU is on a three-match winning streak, by a score of 20-0, since its loss to Wake Forest last Friday. The Lady Tigers have not dropped a singles court since falling 4-3.

Abby Owens is 7-1 on the year and undefeated on court three this season for LSU.

No. 87 Skylar Kuykendall is also 9-1 on the year. The transfer out of Memphis is 8-0 on courts two and three so far this season.

The Owls hold a 6-7 lead all time over the Lady Tigers. LSU is looking to break a four-match losing streak that dates back to the 2010 season.
