Lady Tigers to Face Strong Field at Sugar Bowl

BATON ROUGE – Off a strong second place finish in Puerto Rico on Tuesday, the LSU women’s golf team is quickly back at it beginning Sunday in the 2015 Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championships at the English Turn Golf and Country Club.

LSU is ranked 17th in the latest Golfstat performance rankings after finishing second to Arkansas in the opening event of the spring season.

A total of 15 teams are in this year’s Sugar Bowl field. Along with LSU and host school Tulane will be Arizona, Clemson, Denver, Florida, Kansas, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Texas, UCF, UCLA, UTSA and Vanderbilt.

UCLA comes in ranked No. 3, Mississippi State No. 8, Vanderbilt 11, Arizona 14 and Oklahoma State 15. The field features 11 golfers ranked in the top 50 in the Golfweek.com. final fall rankings.

Included in that group is Mandeville junior Elise Bradley and Sweden’s Madelene Sagstrom. The pair tied for third in Puerto Rico at 1-under par 215.

Both will be in the lineup at English Turn along with Caroline Nistrup, a sophomore from Denmark, Coral Spring, Florida sophomore Carly Goldstein and junior Nadine Dreher of Austria.

Also playing as an individual and making her college debut is Claudia Di Antonio of Venezuela, who prepped in Florida.

English Turn, a par 72 course, will play at 6,189 for the Allstate event. The first round is set to begin with tee times at 9 a.m. off holes one and 10 on both Sunday and Monday with an 8 a.m. shotgun on Tuesday for the final round of the 54-hole event. Admission to English Turn is free of charge each day.

LSU, UCF and Florida will be in the final wave off the first hole beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
