Baseball's Lange Named SEC Freshman of the Week

BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU right-hander Alex Lange earned Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week recognition Monday from the league office.

Lange, a native of Lee’s Summit, Mo., was brilliant in his collegiate baseball debut on Saturday versus Kansas, limiting the Jayhawks to just two hits in five shutout innings with one walk and seven strikeouts.

Lange did not allow a Jayhawk runner to advance beyond second base, and he fired 71 pitches in the outing to earn the win and clinch a series victory for the Tigers.

Lange was the 2014 Missouri Player of the Year in his high school senior season, and he earned Perfect Game All-America honors. He maintained a 4.0 grade point average throughout his high school career.
