Top-3 Gymnastics Matchup Set for Friday Night

BATON ROUGE – The latest GymInfo national rankings were released Monday, and a showdown of two of the nation’s top-ranked teams is set Friday as No. 3 LSU gymnastics will play host to No. 2 Florida.

The two teams mirror each other almost to the thousandth decimal point. LSU (8-1, 5-0 Southeastern Conference) is ranked third nationally with a 197.321 season average, and Florida (5-1, 4-1) is second with a 197.325 average.

Both teams are tied in two of the event national rankings. The Tigers and Gators are each ranked No. 2 on bars with matching 49.338 averages, and they are tied for third on floor with 49.342 averages.

While Florida ranks higher on vault at No. 3 to LSU’s No. 6 ranking, the Tigers are higher on beam at No. 1 nationally compared to the Gators’ No. 4 ranking.

The meet will begin at 7:30 p.m. CT Friday in the Maravich Center, and tickets are available for purchase. Tickets for reserved seats cost $8 for adults and $5 for youth ages 3-12, while general admission tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for youth. Group tickets are also available for groups of 10 or more at a cost of $2 per ticket.

An autograph session with the team will be held immediately following the conclusion of the meet at the Maravich Center, and Friday is also the Gold Meet in which fans are encouraged to wear gold.

After winning her first career all-around title, sophomore Ashleigh Gnat jumped back into the national all-around rankings at No. 20 with a 39.244 season average. She joins Top 5 seniors Rheagan Courville (third at 39.521) and Jessie Jordan (fifth at 39.519).

Gnat is also seventh nationally on beam with a 9.863 average.

Courville is No. 2 on bars at 9.942, No. 7 on vault at 9.925 and 22nd on beam at 9.838.

Jordan is ranked second on beam at 9.90 after coming up with a clutch 9.925 performance in LSU’s final routine of the night to clinch victory at Auburn last Friday. Jordan is also tied for 11th on bas with a 9.875 average, and she is No. 10 on floor at 9.90.

Lloimincia Hall is No. 4 on floor with a 9.917 average, and Randii Wyrick is tied for 24th on bars with a 9.854 average.
