Two Swimmers Named to SEC Service Team

BATON ROUGE, La. — Swimmers Colin Finnegan and Angele Cherbonnier have been named to the SEC Community Service team for their efforts in the Baton Rouge area, the league office announced Thursday.

This is Finnegan’s second time to be named to the community service team. The junior has spearheaded numerous volunteer efforts for the swimming and diving team including visits to Our Lady of the Lake and serving as a Pet Partners volunteer.

Finnegan has also participated in Geaux Big community day of service, Halloween BOOzar, Thanksgiving with the Tigers and LSU Move-In day. The Baton Rouge, native is the Director of Programing for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and represented LSU at the SEC SAAC meeting in Birmingham during the fall.

Cherbonnier began the “Flooding of the Lake”, which sends members of the swimming and diving team to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital to visit children each weekend of October. The sophomore has also volunteered this year at the Kappa Klassic Golf Tournament, Halloween BOOzar and Thanksgiving for the Tigers.

The New Orleans, Louisiana, native is a representative with SAAC and helped clean up a local elementary at SAAC’s day of service.

The LSU Swimming and Diving travels to Auburn, Alabama next week for SEC Championships Feb. 17-21.
