Women's Tennis Travels to Face Wake Forest

BATON ROUGE, La. — The No. 37 LSU Women’s tennis team (5-1) returns to North Carolina to face No. 60 Wake Forest at 3 p.m. CT on Friday at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.

“We are excited to face two different ranked teams who are outside of our conference,” head coach Julia Sell said. “We’ve had a nice two-week break from competition so we are excited to get back out and compete.

Live stats and free video of the match will be available at www.wakeforestsports.com

The Lady Tigers are coming of a sweep of Northwestern State and Jackson State. The women took all 26 sets over the two teams.

No. 28 Joana Vale Costa holds a 3-1 record on court one this year.

Skylar Kuykendall, the transfer from Memphis, is at 87 in the singles poll. The junior is 5-1 on the year with a perfect 4-0 record on courts two and three. Kuykendall is also 1-1 on court one.

The team of Kuykendall and Abby Owens is also 60th in the latest doubles rankings released by the ITA this week.

The match against Wake Forest is expected to be moved indoors with temperatures estimated to only reach 36 degrees on Friday.

“It’s certainly going to be an adjustment going indoors,” Sell added. “We are going to have to get up there and get some good practice in and get use to a different environment. That’s everywhere we go though because every court speed is different.”
