Moncrief Earns First SEC Player of the Week Honor

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – LSU sophomore guard Raigyne Moncrief has secured her first career SEC Player of the Week award as announced Monday by the conference office.

Moncrief turned in a solid all-around effort with 14.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.7 assists per game. LSU joined South Carolina and Tennessee as the only SEC teams to collect three conference wins in the same week this season. Moncrief amassed 9.7 points (67.8 percent) and 5.3 rebounds (68.8 percent) during the second half on the week. She connected on 48.6 percent from the floor and has registered double figures in six of her last seven outings.

Moncrief racked up a SEC career-high 21 points during LSU’s win over Missouri. The sophomore guard picked up her first career SEC double-double fueled by 11 points and a career-high 13 rebounds versus Alabama. She teamed with Danielle Ballard to score all 24 of LSU’s points during the final four minutes of the Missouri and Auburn victories. The Lady Tigers outscored those two teams by a combined 24-8 margin down the stretch.

LSU returns to action and travels to meet No. 1 South Carolina on Thursday. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m. CT from the Colonial Life Arena, and the game will be televised by FSN. The FSN telecast will be available for those outside of the FSN viewing footprint on www.WatchESPN.com and the Watch ESPN app.

The LSU Sports Radio Network will broadcast the game on its flagship station Talk 107.3 FM in Baton Rouge.  Patrick Wright, the voice of the Lady Tiger, will call the action. The broadcast also will be available for Geaux Zone subscribers at www.LSUsports.net/live.
