Baseball's Deichmann to Miss Time with Foot Injury

BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU freshman infielder Greg Deichmann has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his foot, and he will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks, coach Paul Mainieri said Thursday.

Deichmann, a product of Brother Martin High School in New Orleans, has been working at second and third base in preseason workouts.

“It’s tough luck for Greg, but this won’t curtail his career,” Mainieri said. “This is an injury that will heal, and we’ll look forward to his return. Hopefully he’ll provide a spark for us later on in the year.

The Tigers open the 2015 season at 7 p.m. CT on Friday, February 13 versus Kansas in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.
