BATON ROUGE – For the second straight season the LSU gymnastics team broke the school record for average home attendance as the Tigers ranked No. 5 nationally in the GymInfo attendance rankings released Thursday.

An average of 5,633 fans attended each LSU home meet in the 2014 season, breaking the previous record of 5,353 set last season.

Five meets during the 2014 season rank in the Top 10 in LSU’s all-time attendance list. The Tigers’ meet against Alabama on Jan. 31 is the No. 2 most attended home meet in school history as 8,055 fans watched LSU beat the Crimson Tide, 197.650-196.825.

LSU’s first 198 in program history came in front of the fourth-largest home crowd as 7,018 fans saw the Tigers beat Missouri 198.050-194.825 on Feb. 28.

LSU also produced the most attended NCAA Regional when 5,915 fans watched the Tigers tally the highest score in the nation, a 198.325 to win the regional title. The attendance was nearly 1,000 larger than the second-highest figure of 4,954 at the NCAA Athens Regional hosted by Georgia.

LSU finished the season with a perfect 11-0 home record, the 15th season with an undefeated home record, to increase the Tigers’ overall home record to 257-55-3 for a .821 winning percentage.

Deposits for 2015 season tickets are currently being accepted by visiting http://lsul.su/15gymtix, and season tickets are expected to cost $25 for adults and $15 for youth, ages 3-12.

All eight Southeastern Conference teams appeared in the Top 25 of the attendance rankings with Alabama at No. 2, Georgia at No. 3, Florida at No. 4, LSU at No. 5, Auburn at No. 6, Kentucky at No. 8 and Missouri at No. 17.

Utah ranked No. 1 with an average of 14,375 fans per meet.

LSU concluded arguably the most successful season in school history with the highest finish in program history as the Tigers earned third place at the NCAA Super Six Finals.

On the final day of the season at the NCAA Individual Event Finals on April 20, Rheagan Courville captured her second straight NCAA vault national title to give LSU 10 individual national titles in program history.
