Women's Tennis Moves into ITA Top 50

BATON ROUGE – The LSU women’s tennis team has been ranked No. 49 this week by the ITA Division I College Tennis Rankings released on March 25.
 
This ranking follows a home split where the Lady Tigers defeated Mississippi State and fell to Ole Miss. LSU now holds a 9-8 (2-6 SEC) record for the season.
 
The Lady Tigers were previously ranked No. 55.
 
On the heels of a victory against Ole Miss’ Zalina Khairudinova, Joana Vale Costa has been ranked No. 88 in singles in this week’s rankings.
 
Vale Costa is 9-4 (2-3 SEC) on the season, including an 8-3 record at the No. 1 spot and a 1-1 record at the No. 2 spot.
 
Vale Costa was previously ranked No. 69.
 
The Lady Tigers travel to No. 65 South Carolina on Friday, March 28 at 4 p.m. in Columbia, S.C.
