BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU men’s tennis team taught local members of the Big Buddy Program how to fish as a part of “Downtown Kiwanis Fishing Day” on Saturday morning at Waddill Outdoor Education Center.
Each player was partnered with a child for the day and served as a mentor. The kids were given fishing poles and demonstrations from wildlife instructors while the players assisted the kids with fishing in the pond.
“The best thing about volunteering with Big Buddy is getting to see how excited and happy the kids get when you interact with them,” said sophomore Andrew Korinek. “Today was a great event for our team to participate in before we headed to practice, and I think each and every one of us got something out of interacting with our local youth. We are happy to give back when we can, and this fishing trip was a lot of fun for the team.”
The Tigers return to action as they host a doubleheader with No. 9 Texas A&M and Nicholls at Dub Robinson Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The first serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. against the Aggies.
