Women's Tennis to Host No. 4 Alabama

BATON ROUGE – LSU women’s tennis is set to square off against No. 4 Alabama at 4 p.m. CT on Friday, March 7 in W.T. “Dub” Robinson Stadium.

LSU is 7-4 on the season and 0-2 in the SEC after dropping a 7-0 decision to No. 8 Vanderbilt on Sunday. Each of the Lady Tigers four losses has been against a Top 35 opponent. Alabama is currently 10-2 on the season and 2-0 in the SEC.

“Our conference is so strong,” said LSU head coach Julia S. Sell. “That’s one of the wonderful things about it. There are four teams from the SEC in the Top 10 right now, and Alabama is one of them. We’ve played a lot of strength. Right now it’s more about us. We are focusing on ourselves and making ourselves better each week.”

LSU leads the all-time series against Alabama 28-13. The Tide won the last meeting 6-1 on March 10, 2013.

Friday’s match is part of Campus Kid’s day. There will be free prizes and drinks, on-court promotions and more. Mike the Tiger will be in attendance as well.

“It’s a great time for fans to come out,” said Sell. “Our rivalry with Alabama is amazing and it’s always a competitive match. We’ve got a lot of nice giveaways. We are going to feed people and bring treats.”
