Gymnastics Maintains Grip on No. 1 Ranking

BATON ROUGE – For the second straight week the LSU gymnastics team earned the No. 1 spot in the national rankings released Monday by GymInfo.

LSU (8-3, 4-2 Southeastern Conference) increased its regional qualifying score from 197.470 to 197.605 after shattering the school record with a 198.050 against Missouri on Friday, the first 198 team score in school history.

Florida jumped Oklahoma for No. 2 in the national rankings with a 197.515 RQS, and Oklahoma slid to No. 3 at 197.415. Alabama is fourth at 197.215, and Georgia gives the SEC four of the top 5 teams nationally with a 197.020 to rank fifth.

In the event standings, LSU maintained its No. 1 ranking on vault with a 49.530 RQS and No. 1 on floor with a 49.490 RQS. The Tigers stayed at No. 3 on beam with a 49.260 RQS, and LSU moved up one spot to No. 4 on bars with a 49.350 RQS.

A season-high eight Tigers are ranked in the national Top 25 in at least one category, led by junior Rheagan Courville who ranks in the Top 10 in all five categories.

Courville is No. 2 in the all-around (39.595 RQS), No. 4 on vault (9.930), No. 7 on bars (9.90), No. 4 on beam (9.90) and No. 8 on floor (9.935).

After winning the all-around title with a career-high 39.600 against Missouri, junior Jessie Jordan moved up one spot to No. 5 nationally in the all-around with a 39.495 RQS. For the second consecutive week, Jordan is also No. 1 on beam at 9.915, and she is No. 16 on vault at 9.90.

Senior Kaleigh Dickson checked in at No. 13 nationally in the all-around with a 39.325 RQS after posting a career-best 39.475 against Missouri.

Senior Sarie Morrison ranks No. 2 on bars with a 9.935 RQS, and she is No. 6 on vault at 9.925.

Junior Lloimincia Hall, who won her third floor title of the season with a 9.975 against Missouri, climbed to No. 1 on floor with a 9.955 RQS.

Junior Britney Ranzy is 15th on bars at 9.880, sophomore Jessica Savona is 16th on floor at 9.890 and freshman Ashleigh Gnat is 25th on vault with a 9.885 RQS.

North Carolina State, LSU’s opponent on Friday, jumped into the rankings at No. 25 with a 195.370 RQS, and the Wolfpack are led by sophomore Brittni Watkins who ranks 11th nationally in the all-around with a 39.370 RQS.

LSU and NC State will square off at 7 p.m. CT Friday in the Tigers’ Pink Meet to raise awareness and support the fight against breast cancer.

Fans are encouraged to wear pink in the Maravich Center on Friday.
