Golfweek Names Gahm Player of the Week

BATON ROUGE – LSU senior women’s golfer Lindsay Gahm‘s near record setting performance in winning her first LSU individual title at The Alamo Invitational has earned her Golfweek’s selection as women’s collegiate player of the week.

Gahm birdied three of the final five holes including the decisive 18th-hole when she dropped in a five-footer to win the title at 11-under par 205. She finished one shot better than Alexandra Kaui of Oklahoma who had taken the lead from Gahm on the back nine of the final round.

Gahm had rounds of 68-68-69 for an 11-under par 205. Gahm’s winning score tied for the second lowest 54-hole total ever posted in the 30-plus year history of the LSU women’s golf program. Megan McChrystal posted 205 in the 2010 Tar Heel Invitational. The school record for 54 holes is 13-under par 203 by Austin Ernst at the 2011 Cougar Classic.

The Louisville, Ky., golfer had one string in the tournament of 43 consecutive holes without a bogey going from the third hole in the first round until the 11th hole of the final round.

The victory keyed a very good tournament for the 22nd-ranked Lady Tigers who finished second in the event. Gahm’s win was the second individual title of the fall for LSU as Madelene Sagstrom also won a fall event.
