GameDay Parking Update: Rain Closes Lots, Streets

LSU continues to monitor parking lots on campus, but due to the heavy rains that saturated the area last night the following lots have been closed for parking today:

Hayfield lot (free parking) – NOW OPEN (was closed due to standing water most of the day)
Old front 9 (free parking) – CLOSED
Lot 103 (permit) – CLOSED; will be re-directed to Lot 102 (Nicholson Apartments)
Lot 106 (permit) – CLOSED; will be re-directed to Lot 406 (by Tiger Softball Park)

The Levee Lot – which is a free parking lot – is now full. Some areas were not be able to accommodate vehicles due to standing water.

Burbank Drive at Nicholson Drive has drained and has been re-opened.

Fans are reminded that parking for cars is available at the new Union Square Parking Garage, which is located on East Campus Drive across from the Student Union. Passes for the parking garage can be purchased for $40 as you enter the garage.

4:30 p.m. – As scattered showers come through Baton Rouge, $40 single-game parking is full between Highland Rd. and the stadium. There are spots available in the Union Square Parking Garage off Highland Rd. near the Union. Parts of the free Hayfield Lot are open and available.

2:20 p.m. – Burbank Dr. near Nicholson Dr. has drained adequately for cars to pass and has been re-opened.

Some free parking in the Levee Lot remains. $40 single-game parking (blue area of the parking map) is nearly full. Space remains in the Union Square Garage ($40) at this time. 

Though overcast, it has not rained on campus since 7:30 a.m.

11 a.m. – Burbank Dr. near Nicholson Dr. remains closed, but is being pumped down.

$40 single-game parking in the Union Square Garage (across Highland Rd. from the Student Union) and near the Quad remain available. See the Blue area of the LSU Parking Map and the Car Parking Info page for details.

9:40 a.m. – The underpass at Acadian Thruway is now open. Note that Burbank Dr. near Nicholson remains closed as the area drains.

8:30 a.m. – The free Hayfield Lot (below) has been closed due to standing water. The free Levee Lot remains open, however, there are spots that will be unusable. 

Both Burbank Dr. (near Nicholson Dr.) and the Acadian Thruway underpass remain closed.

Hayfield Lot

7:30 a.m. – Grass permit parking Lot 103 (Bernie Moore Track’s field) and Lot 106 (Natatorium) are closed. Permit holders have been notifed via email and redirected to alternate lots.

Free parking in the Old Front Nine is closed. Additional free parking in the Hayfield and Levee Lots are being assessed and updates will be posted shortly.

Typical of these areas after heavy rains, Burbank Dr. near Nicholson Dr. (pictured below) is currently flooded and impassible. Additionally, the Acadian Thruway underpass just south of Interstate 10 is also flooded and impassible. Please see alternate routes until the water subsides.
