Swimming & Diving Adds to Classroom Achievement

BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s swimming and diving program earned the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Spring Scholar All-America Team honors for posting a cumulative 3.0 or higher grade point average.

The women’s squad was led in the classroom by former LSU standout Jane Trepp and senior Samantha Goates. The two athletes were named CSCAA All-Americans.

Goates, a member of the 2011 All-SEC Second Team and the 2011 SEC Academic Honor Roll, combined her success in the classroom with in the pool success.

Trepp completed her outstanding career at LSU and currently is preparing to compete in the FINA World Championships at the end of July.

Juniors Sally Wood and Audrey Lawson were also named Honorable Mention Scholar All-Americans.

“We are very proud of the women’s swimming and diving team,” co-head coach Doug Shaffer said. “They have demonstrated excellence and success in the classroom and the pool.”

On the men’s side, Junior Sean Roddy was named Honorable Mention Scholar All-American.
