Four Gymnasts Pay Visit to Charlie's Place

BATON ROUGE – Four members of the LSU gymnastics team recently visited clients at Charlie’s Place, a respite center for individuals with early to mild stages of Alzheimer’s located on North Boulevard in Baton Rouge.

Juniors Ericka Garcia and Shelby Prunty and sophomores Maliah Mathis and Mckenzie Fox interacted and bonded with 12 clients at Charlie’s Place, playing cards and other games as well as singing with the group.

The team has made visits to Charlie’s Place a routine occurrence as five Tigers visited with clients two weeks ago and more gymnasts will visit this week.

“It is an honor to be able to share our time with the Charlie’s Place residents,” Garcia said. “This is something we look forward to each visit, and we hope to continue our relationship with the residents.”

Charlie’s Place is operated by Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area.

The LSU gymnastics team is currently in individual summer workouts in preparation for fall practice that begins in September.
