O'Bryant Named to All-USA Boys Team
BATON ROUGE – LSU Basketball signee Johnny O’Bryant was named the third team center on the 2011 USA Today All-USA Boys’ Basketball Team.
The annual team was selected by USA Today reporter Jim Halley after discussions with analysts Jerry Meyer of Rivals.com and Van Coleman of Hoopmasters.com and numerous coaches, players and sportswriters.
O’Bryant from East Side High in Cleveland, Miss., averaged 19.2 points per game, 14.7 rebounds per game and 6.2 blocks per game. He signed with LSU in the early signing period in Nov. 2010 and will be eligible to begin play with the coming 2011-12 season.
The 6-10, 260-pounder played in two national all-star games in the post-season, first in Chicago in the McDonald’s All-American game, and in Charlotte, in the Jordan Brands Classic. He scored nine points in the McDonald’s game and 10 in the Jordan Classic.
