Notes on the Tigers
LSU had its season-long 11-game winning streak come to a close over the weekend against No. 6 Tennessee. Tiffany Shaw and Juliana Santos were the bright spots for the Tiger offense. Shaw batted .375 for the series and added two stolen bases. In the process, she notched her team-leading eighth multi-hit performance. Santos garnered a 3-for-4 effort with an RBI single during the series finale. She has hit safely in six of her last nine outings. Brittany Mack notched 19 strikeouts over her 13 innings of work. Only four of the 11 earned runs off of Mack were earned during the series. During its 4-2 midweek victory at McNeese State, reigning SEC and USA Softball Player of the Week Anissa Young continued her trend of late inning heroics with a two-out, two-run single in the ninth inning. In the circle, Rachele Fico went the distance to pick up her 10th victory of the season. The Tigers open a stretch of nine of their next 10 games away from home with a Wednesday doubleheader at No. 24 Auburn followed by a weekend series at Ole Miss. Friday’s game will be televised on ESPNU as part of the SEC on ESPN package.
