CST to be Added to Charter Louisiana Lineup Jan. 1

CST and CST HD will be available to Charter Louisiana customers beginning January 1

NEW ORLEANS — Charter and Cox Sports Television (CST) today announced a distribution agreement providing for Charter carriage of CST in digital line-ups for most Charter systems in Louisiana, including the Northshore area.

The agreement provides for Charter customers to begin receiving CST ‘s coverage of the New Orleans Hornets, New Orleans Saints, LSU Tigers and many other Gulf South sports on January 1, 2011.

CST will be located on Charter’s popular Sports View level of service and provided in both standard and high definition.

Parishes included in Charter’s January 1 launch of CST and CSTHD are St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Livingston, Lafourche, Terrebonne, Assumption, St. Mary, St. Landry, Jefferson Davis and Acadia.

“We appreciate the patience of our Louisiana customers as we worked with CST to come to an agreement that is in the best interests of all Charter customers,” said Aimee Pfannenstiel, Vice President and General Manager for Charter’s operations in Louisiana. “Being able to watch every play in high definition will also add to the excitement. In addition, Charter wants to help the effort to ensure that the Hornets stay a part of Louisiana for many years to come.”

“This is an exciting day for CST, our teams and fans,” stated CST Vice President and network head, Rod Mickler. “Charter serves so many great sports areas in Louisiana and we know their customers will applaud the addition of CST to their line-ups.”

CST is the exclusive regional sports network home for many of the great sports teams in the South, including the New Orleans Hornets. CST televises 65 Hornets games each year including a live thirty minute pre-game show, Hornets Tonight!

“We are thrilled that Cox and Charter have reached an agreement, as the Northshore has always been considered critical to our long term success in Louisiana,” said Hornets President Hugh Weber. “This news provides great momentum and allows all our fans in the Charter viewing area to connect with the team on CST broadcasts and become exposed to the team more regularly, which will encourage those fans be part of the action at the New Orleans Arena and cheer in person.”

With this announcement, CST continues to be one of the fastest growing regional sports networks in the south. CST is now available across eight southern states and serves more than 2 million homes. CST boasts over 300 live events per year including the New Orleans Hornets, New Orleans Saints, LSU Tigers, Arkansas Razorbacks, Southeastern Conference, Sun Belt Conference, Tulane University, LHSAA Championship events, Conference USA, Big East, Big 12, WAC, Gulf South Conference, A-Sun Conference and the New Orleans Zephyrs.
