Women's Golf Moves to No. 4 in Coaches Poll

BATON ROUGE – The LSU women’s golf team moved up 12 spots to fourth in the latest Golf World/NGCA women’s coaches’ poll announced this week.

The caveat is the voting was done prior to the Lady Tigers win over defending national champion Purdue on Sunday in the Mason Rudolph Women’s Championship in Franklin, Tenn.

LSU after the Mason Rudolph has moved to No. 1 in the Golfstat performance rankings based on tournament play.

Alabama received 21 first place voted moving from fourth to first with its one shot win over LSU in the NCAA Fall Preview. USC (four first place votes) is second, followed by Duke and then LSU in fourth. UCLA in fifth and Purdue in ninth each received two of the other four first-place votes.

Five other SEC teams, besides Alabama and LSU, are ranked with Georgia No. 6, Vanderbilt 7, Auburn 12, South Carolina 20 and Tennessee 24.,

The Tulane Green Wave is 14th in the latest poll after being unranked in the preseason poll.

The Lady Tigers are next in action Oct. 8-10 at the Lady Tar Heel in Chapel Hill, N.C.
