Tennis' Coats Falls in Hoosier Classic Final

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – LSU women’s tennis freshman Alexus Coats fell in the flight 3 singles finals at Indiana University’s Hoosier Classic on Sunday.

The Lithonia, Ga., native fell in straight sets to Indiana’s Carlotte Martin 1-6, 2-6. The finals appearance was the first for Coats as a Lady Tiger.

Due to rain, all matches scheduled for the day were moved indoors.

“We lost some matches today, but we had chances in all four of them,” said LSU head coach Tonny Minnis. “Overall it was a good tournament for us and we are looking forward to the rest of the fall season.”

LSU will continue fall play next weekend at the ITA All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif., with junior Whitney Wolf and sophomore Keri Frankenberger competing in the pre-qualifying rounds beginning Oct. 2.
