ATHENS, Ga. – Two members of the LSU men’s tennis team notched victories on day one of the Southern Intercollegiate Championships at the University of Georgia’s Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga., on Friday.

After a first round bye, sophomore Olivier Borsos captured a come-from-behind victory over the University of Alabama-Birmingham’s Chris Helliar 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the flight B round of 32 tomorrow.

In flight C, junior Jordan Girdley earned a straight-set victory over Lipscomb’s John McArdle 7-6(4), 6-2.

“Olivier (Borsos) did a good job of keeping his composure today,” said head coach Jeff Brown. “He was able to turn it around and capitalize for a big win. We are looking forward to everyone playing some more tomorrow.”

The Tigers will take the court tomorrow morning in doubles at 9 a.m. (CT). Girdley and doubles partner David Roberts will take on Mississippi State’s Tanner Stump and Hrehan Hakeem, while Borsos and teammate Cody Loup will square off against Georgia State’s Thomas Cook and Jaun Pablo Gutierrez.
