Men's Basketball Holds Walk-on Tryouts
BATON ROUGE – The LSU men’s basketball team welcome a group of potential student-athletes Wednesday night at the annual tryout session held on the main floor of the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
A total of 22 took part in the session and Coach Trent Johnson said that two selections have been made, one a returnee from last year.
“Daron did a good job for us last year, obviously and has done a good job in the class room,” said Johnson. “Andrew is a young man that hasn’t played a lot of basketball but you can’t coach or tech seven-foot. We are looking for one more addition to our squad. This is something we really feel good about and we have been able to make it an annual event for us. The main thing is it is an opportunity for someone to represent LSU, play college basketball at the highest level and to be a part of the team. We’ve got a good group out here playing extremely hard. It’s exciting for me. I wish we could keep them all, but obviously in the game of basketball it’s not like that.”
The selection of the third member to advance from the walk-on tryouts will be announced in the days ahead once the coaching staff has a chance to meet and evaluate the tape of Wednesday’s session.
