SEC's Together We CAN Drive Starts Friday
BATON ROUGE – The fourth annual SEC Together We CAN Food Drive begins Friday on the LSU campus, as all 12 member institutions will team up in a league-wide food and donation drive in support of local food banks and shelters across the Southeast.
The 10-day outreach program headed by the Geaux Givers, LSU’s new community service initiative, runs through September 26. The canned goods and financial donations collected by LSU’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee [SAAC] members during the drive will benefit the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
Fans can donate at all LSU athletic events this weekend, including at the L-Club Tailgate Registration Table across the street from Tiger Stadium leading into Saturday’s football home opener against Mississippi State. Bins for canned goods also will be placed in the parking areas at baseball’s Alex Box Stadium and softball’s Tiger Park.
Members of the LSU softball team will be on-hand to gather items at the Friday and Sunday volleyball matches as fans enter the Maravich Center. Fans also can contribute to the drive at Sunday’s soccer match.
For those fans wanting to donate but not able to make it to one of the athletic events below, barrels will be at the front entrance of the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes during the entire 10-day period.
