Carlsson, Skupski Earn Preseason Rankings

BATON ROUGE – LSU men’s tennis senior Sebastian Carlsson and junior Neal Skupski are listed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason rankings, the organization announced Friday.

The duo debuts at No. 16 in the doubles rankings, jumping up 22 spots from last year’s No. 38 mark. The Tiger tandem finished last season with a 5-3 record while riding a four match winning streak.

Skupski ranks 31st in the singles rankings, while Carlsson starts off at the No. 78 spot.

“Sebastian and Neal were recognized for their great seasons last year both individually and as a pair,” said LSU head coach Jeff Brown. “They will both look to get off to a fast start in the fall.”

Additionally, both Carlsson and Skupski were named as selections to the 2010 D’Novo All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., in October. The pair will compete in the doubles main draw, and both will take the court in the singles portion of the tournament. Skupski will face off in the singles main draw and Carlsson will begin in the qualifying round.

The ITA also selected junior Mark Bowtell and sophomore Roger Anderson for the pre-qualifying rounds of the tournament.
