McChrystal Among Top 10 Golfers to Watch
BATON ROUGE – With the 2010-11 women’s golf season just a week away from starting, LSU All-American senior golfer Megan McChrystal has been named in the top 10 of college players to watch by Golf World magazine.
Golf World’s annual preseason preview listed its top 50 players, putting the top 10 in numerical order before listing players 11-50 in alphabetical order. McChrystal, who finished fifth in the NCAA Championships a year ago, is ranked No. 10 among women’s golfers entering the team’s first tournament which begins on Sept. 13.
McChrystal of Stuart, Fla., had a final round of 64 in the Championship setting school, course and championship records in the process last May. She had five top 10s last year and her third collegiate win in the Tiger-Wave Classic.
Also in the top 10 in numerical order in front of McChrystal are Cydney Clanton of Auburn, Marina Alex of Vanderbilt, Stephanie Kono of UCLA, Carlota Ciganda of Arizona State, Marta Silva Zamora of Georgia, Danielle Kang of Pepperdine, Lizette Salas of USC, Lisa McCloskey of USC and Maude-Aimee LeBlanc of Purdue.
Senior Janine Fellows of Tulane is listed in the 11-50 grouping of players.
All of the top 10 and 30 of the top 50 will be in the NCAA Fall Preview at Texas A&M Sept. 13-15 to open the fall season that will lead many of these same players back for the Division I Women’s Championship in May 2011.
