BATON ROUGE — Freshman Keri Frankenberger of the LSU women’s tennis team led her team to most of its victories this season and for her efforts was named to the All-Southeastern Conference Second Team and All-Freshman Team.
“I’m really proud of Keri. It’s a great accomplishment not only to be on the Freshman Team but the All-SEC Second Team as well,” head coach Tony Minnis said. “She’s had a tremendous year, and I look forward to seeing her progress in the future.”
Frankenberger is only the third Lady Tiger freshman to be named to an All-SEC Team behind Dana De Watlington in 1984 and Suzana Rodrigues in 1994. Senior Hannah Robinson was the last Lady Tiger to earn All-SEC Second Team accolades for her efforts during her sophomore campaign.
The Gainesville, Fla., native compiled a 19-12 overall record and an 11-5 record at the No. 4 slot. In doubles, Frankenberger combined with Whitney Wolf to rack up 10 wins at the No. 1 position, including a win over then-ranked No. 89 Kate Lukomskaya and Kelsey Sundaram of Arkansas.
Frankenberger clinched a team-high four matches this season, wins over Mississippi State, Tulane, Kentucky and Alabama.
LSU finished the regular season 9-14 and 4-7 in the SEC.
