BATON ROUGE – The No. 17 LSU softball team wraps up its regular season home schedule with a three-game set against No. 8 Georgia. The series starts with a Thursday single game at 7 p.m. on ESPN followed by a Friday twin bill slated for 4 p.m. & 8 p.m. with the series finale being televised by ESPNU.

The Tigers (39-10, 17-5 SEC) are in sole possession of third place in the overall SEC standings and one game back of Alabama in the western division race.

Tiffany Shaw has appeared in 34 games and has scored in 16 of her 27 pinch running appearances this season. She stopped by to share some thoughts prior to Tuesday’s practice.

“Hey Tiger Fans,

Our team is made up of such an awesome group of girls, with each individual bringing some type of characteristic that helps bring us success. That could be from the starter doing her part in the game, to cheering in the dugout, helping chart the pitchers during the game or maybe being the person called upon to score the winning run.

Everything counts in making the difference on us winning the game, and every play can be the difference of us winning or losing. That’s why as a player you have to be ready and focused for each play. If one player makes an error it can often times become contagious, leading to other players making mistakes. The little things can affect the whole game, so that’s why as players you can’t take the most routine plays for granted.

Coach Girouard always tells us to be prepared to enter the game at any given point and make an impact when given your opportunity. You always have to be ready because you might be the person that the team needs in a situation to help win the ball game and be the difference maker!

I always make sure that I’m ready because Coach Girouard could call my name to run for any given player at a crucial moment when we need to score a run. To be successful, I know that I have to get myself prepared mentally and physically. That’s why I make sure I’m stretching and running between innings because as a player coming off the bench you only get one opportunity to go into the game, one opportunity to steal a base to move into scoring position and one opportunity to make a difference. I know I can do what it takes to help our team win the game!

Thank you Tiger fans for all the support you’ve given us over the season. I can’t wait to see a full house covered in Gold when we face Georgia on Thursday.

Geaux Tigers,

Tiffany
