Women's Golfer Crochet on SEC Service Team

BATON ROUGE – LSU junior women’s golfer Nicole Crochet was named to the SEC Women’s Golf Community Service Team announced Thursday by the league.

The Community Service teams are selected in each of the 20 sports the league sponsors to highlight student-athletes from the SEC who give back to their communities in superior service efforts.

Crochet, from Harahan, La., is the women’s golf representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and instrumental in getting her team involved in community service events. She has helped spearhead the organization of the CHAMPS annual Halloween BOOzar. Crochet also played minigolf with the kids, handed out candy and signed autographs with her teammates in order to provide a safe and fun Halloween night for local kids.

She was also a participant in the Miles for Myles event at the Bernie Moore Track that was part of a national event to raise awareness and funds to benefit pancreatic cancer research after NCAA President Myles Brand passed away. She also volunteered at the Louisiana Senior Olympic Games banquet where she served food to the participants and helped with the overall set up and tear down after the event.

Nicole also coordinated with her teammates the women’s golf teams’ participation in “Christmas With The Tigers” program where the team raised money to provide clothes and gifts to an underprivileged young girl for the holidays.
