BATON ROUGE – The LSU volleyball team continues its spring season Saturday at the third annual SEC Coaches Beach Championships on the sands of Siesta Key, Fla. The event gets underway at 10 a.m.

“We’re very excited to play in such an excellent event and are definitely looking forward to playing some great competition against our fellow SEC foes,” assistant coach Steve Loeswick said. “The training on the sand has been a great addition for not only our overall athleticism, but for our overall vision of the game. With two players per side, the beach game forces our players to be competent at every skill. We’ve already seen an increase in each person’s overall skill set during our beach training.”

The Tigers will face off against teams from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee. LSU’s four teams consist of Angela Bensend and Michele Williams along with Brittany Johnson and Lauren Waclawczyk. Meghan Mannari and Tania Schatow in addition to Sam Delahoussaye and Madie Jones also are scheduled to compete.

LSU concludes its spring season next weekend at the Maravich Center.
