Men's Tennis Closes Regular Season at Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The LSU men’s tennis team will close out the regular season on the road when the Tigers face the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT in the Billingsley Tennis Center.
No. 55 LSU (6-14, 2-8 SEC) enters the contest with Arkansas after edging out South Florida in its home season finale, 4-3, to snap a seven-match skid.
No. 62 Arkansas (10-12, 1-9 SEC) has lost its last four matches to Auburn, Alabama, Vanderbilt and Kentucky. The Razorbacks last recorded a win against Oral Roberts, 4-0, on March 30.
“This is an extremely important match for both teams with both of us being on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament,” LSU head coach Jeff Brown said. “The team is extremely focused and looking to build on the momentum from our win over South Florida. We want to carry that momentum through to the SEC Tournament.”
The Tigers feature No. 51 Neal Skupski in singles with a 6-12 dual record, and the sophomore is 8-10 overall against nationally-ranked opponents. Skupski also lists in the doubles rankings with junior Sebastian Carlsson at No. 43 posting a 4-2 record at the top court.

The Razorbacks list 65th-ranked Chris Nott with a 10-9 record at the top position. Nott also leads the team in doubles with senior Dmitry Lebedev at 10-8 on the season at court No. 1.
LSU and Arkansas will both be fighting to earn a higher seed in the SEC Tournament slated to begin April 22 in Lexington, Ky.  LSU ranks fifth in the West with Arkansas checking in at sixth.
LSU leads Arkansas in the all-time series, 21-4. The Tigers last notched a win over Arkansas as they swept the Razorbacks, 4-0, in 2009 on Senior Day in W.T. “Dub” Robinson Stadium.
