Gymnastics Slotted for NCAA Session 1

BATON ROUGE – The LSU gymnastics team earned the No. 9 national seed and will compete in the opening session of the NCAA Championships at noon CT on April 22 in Florida’s Stephen C. O’Connell Center, the NCAA announced Monday.

LSU (15-8-1) recorded a 196.400 at the University Park Regional on Saturday to finish second and earn a berth in the championships, and the Tigers also earned a 392.815 national qualifying score (NQS) to receive the No. 9 seed.

The NQS is comprised of a team’s regional qualifying score and the score achieved at regional competition.

In the opening session, LSU will face No. 1 seed UCLA, No. 4 seed Oklahoma, fifth-seeded Utah, eighth-seeded Oregon State and No. 12 Nebraska.

The competition rotation order was set, and the Tigers will open up on the bye before floor, followed by floor, vault, bye before bars, bars and beam.

The second session will begin at 6 p.m. and feature No. 2 seed and host Florida, No. 3 Alabama, No. 6 Stanford, No. 7 Arkansas, No. 10 Missouri and No. 11 Michigan.

The top three finishers from each session will advance to the Super Six finals, and LSU will compete for its third-straight appearance in the national championship meet.
