BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team will travel to Lexington, Ky., to take on Kentucky at the Hillary J. Boone Complex Friday at 2 p.m. CT.
“Kentucky has had quality teams for a number of years. They’ve had some tough losses this season, but they have a number of girls who have played on top-25 teams,” said head coach Tony Minnis. “This will be a stiff test for us, but we’re looking forward to the challenge.”
LSU (8-12, 3-5 SEC) is fresh off of a weekend sweep as the Lady Tigers knocked off Alabama and Auburn, 5-2. Sophomore Whitney Wolf captured her third nationally-ranked win of the season as she took down 47th-ranked Alexa Guarachi of Alabama 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.
The Lady Tigers are led by a pair of freshman as Kaitlin Burns and Keri Frankenberger both check in with an 11-7 dual record. In doubles, Frankenberger and Wolf own a 12-7 overall record with a 7-3 dual record.
Kentucky (2-16, 0-8) is featured by one ranked opponent in No. 98 Megan Broderick.
Last season, the Lady Tigers ousted the Wildcats, 4-3, in Baton Rouge. Kentucky leads the overall series against LSU, 16-14.
