ORLANDO, Fla. — The No. 12 LSU softball team heads into the heart of its seven-game road swing with a weekend series at No. 6 Florida. All three games of the series will be broadcasted live on ESPN 104.5 and The X 104.9 FM in the Baton Rouge.

Rachel Mitchell, reigning Louisiana Sports Writers Association [LSWA] Hitter of the Week, has compiled four consecutive multi-hit efforts and bumped her average up to a season-best .361 clip to go along with three home runs and 25 RBIs.

The LaPorte, Texas, native stopped by some thoughts from 10,000 feet as the Tigers made their way toward the Sunshine State.

“Hey Tiger Fans –

Greetings from Orlando where our spring break has officially begun. It’s so nice to have a break from school so we can completely focus on our upcoming series.

We’re all very excited for this trip and anxious to get a chance to play Florida and Alabama. I think this type of long road trip is a really good experience for our team. We’ve already had some quality bonding time in the New Orleans airport, on the plane and are secretly devising a plan to have the bus sneak off to Disney World. But don’t tell Coach G, it will be our little secret.  🙂

Our team has an awesome assortment of girls on it. We’re truly having a blast coming out to the field and having the opportunity to be around each other every day.

Our team has more chemistry this season than any other team I’ve been on. We love to have fun and joke around with each other. At the same time, we know when we need to get serious and get the job done. I couldn’t have asked for nineteen better people to call my “family.” We’re truly blessed to be Tigers, but I’m even more blessed to call them friends.

Thanks to our wonderful fans for all the support you’ve shown us so far this season. We hope to see you in Gainesville and Tuscaloosa.

Geaux Tigers,
