Swimmers Complete Competition in Europe

ISTANBUL, Turkey — LSU swimmer Andrei Tuomola helped his country of Finland’s 4×50-meter freestyle relay squad reach the finals, and junior Jane Trepp qualified for the semifinals of the women’s 50m free during the last session of the 2009 European Short-Course Swimming Championships Sunday.

Tuomola swam a 50-meter split of 21.17 seconds on the third leg of Finland’s relay, which placed seventh overall (1:25.55).

Trepp wrapped up her meet with a 13th-place finish in the 50m free. The Estonian posted a blistering personal best of 24.55.

LSU will return to action this week when the divers travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to compete in the Alabama Diving Invitational, beginning Dec. 17. The swimming teams will return to competition on Jan. 5 at the South Florida Invitational in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
