Soccer Appears in Three More National Polls

BATON ROUGE — After earning its first ever Top 10 national ranking on Monday, the LSU soccer team held its position in the Top 20 in two more national polls while making its debut in a third poll released Tuesday prior to the start of SEC play this weekend.

The Tigers will carry a No. 9 national ranking by Soccer America into its match on Friday against the Mississippi State Bulldogs with kickoff set for 7 p.m. in Starkville.

After wrapping up its non-conference slate with a perfect 6-0 mark, the team remains at No. 15 in the latest Soccer Buzz Top 30 and at No. 17 in the Soccer Times Top 25. Not only that, but LSU made its first ever appearance in the NSCAA/adidas Top 25 with a No. 24 national ranking.

The Tigers are 6-0 for the first time in school history following their dominating 4-0 win over the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman on Friday night, breaking the previous school record mark of five straight wins to open the 2003 and 2007 seasons. It also marks the first time in the 14-year history of the program that the Tigers finished unbeaten in non-conference play.

Following their match with Mississippi State on Friday night, the Tigers will make the short trip to Oxford to take on the Ole Miss Rebels on Sunday at 1 p.m.
