Cox to Offer TigerVision Free in Baton Rouge Area

BATON ROUGE — LSU’s pay-per-view telecast of the LSU vs. North Texas football game on Saturday will be made available free of charge to Cox Communications customers in the Baton Rouge area on Cox Channel 4.  The game will be available on a pay-per-view basis to the rest of Louisiana as usual.

The move was approved by the Southeastern Conference after ESPN approved a waiver for the game to be seen free in the Baton Rouge market.  ESPN holds the SEC cable rights for the primetime broadcast window, but the waiver was sought when Cox was unable to process orders due to the impact of Hurricane Gustav.

“We are pleased we are able to offer this with our partners at Cox to their customers in the Baton Rouge area,” said LSU director of athletics Joe Alleva.  “The SEC and ESPN were understanding of our situation here after the hurricane and made an exception so that Tiger fans in Baton Rouge could enjoy this game.”

The game will be made available free in the Baton Rouge Cox 4 coverage area (see map at right) that includes all of East Baton Rouge Parish, West Baton Rouge Parish, Iberville Parish, Ascension Parish and parts of Livingston, St. James and the town of Slaughter.  The game will be made available on a traditional pay-per-view basis to the remainder of the state and other cable/satellite providers.

The game can also be seen on DirectTV channel 787 and the Dish Network channel 464.

The game is available to the rest of the country on ESPN’s GamePlan package.

NOTE: There will be no live streaming video on LSUsports.net’s Geaux Zone during the LSU-North Texas game. Pregame video will end at 7 p.m. CDT.
