LSU Athletics to Hold 'TigerPalooza' to Benefit DesOrmeaux

BATON ROUGE — The LSU Athletics Department, in conjunction with the Shaquille O’Neal CHAMPS/Life Skills Program, will host the inaugural TigerPalooza on Monday evening, in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

The four-hour event is scheduled to run from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and will benefit former Tiger soccer player Robyn DesOrmeaux, who has seen a recurrence of Ewing’s sarcoma cancer. The Michael Foster Project will play the event, which features food and prizes.

Tickets are available for $5 from the LSU ticket office and at the door on Monday. In addition, fans who wish to donate directly to DesOrmeaux to help offset her mounting medical bills can go to any Chase Bank and give to the Robyn DesOrmeaux Donations Trust Account or mail a donation to Chase Bank, Attn: Tanya Hodges, 250 W. State Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802.

DesOrmeaux was a goalkeeper on the women’s soccer team who was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of malignant cancer. She completed her senior season in 2004 after starting in 50 of the Tigers’ 53 games in her career. In 2003 she was chosen the team’s defensive MVP and named to the All-Louisiana soccer team. The Carencro native is undergoing treatment at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.
