Women's Golf Fights Rain, Stands in Seventh

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The LSU Lady Tigers golf team struggled through a rain-delayed lengthy first round and finds itself in sixth place after the first round of the Crimson Tide Classic Friday at the Ol’ Colony Golf Course.

Alabama leads the event at 12-over 300, four shots better than Samford at 16-over 304. Kentucky is third at 307 with Jacksonville State and Ole Miss at 22-over 310. The Tigers are at 24-over par 312, four shots ahead of Stetson (316).

LSU’s scores were all in the same range led by the five-over par score of senior Rebecca Kuhn (77) with senior Alexis Rather and freshman Lindy LaBauve at six-over 78. LSU’s other counting score was a seven-over 79 by freshman Amalie Valle.

“We really didn’t have a good day,” said LSU Coach Karen Bahnsen. “We’ve got to go out the next two days and grind our way back through it. We can. It was just a long day and nothing was going right for us in any one’s round.”

Camilla Lennarth and Sarah Sturm of Alabama both shot two-under par 70s to lead the individual competition.

The event runs through Sunday.
