Gymnasts Participate in 'Operation Christmas Child'
BATON ROUGE — In the spirit of the holiday season the LSU gymnastics team took time out of their training schedule to participate in Operation Christmas Child, a community service project run by Samaritan’s Purse.
As part of Operation Christmas Child each gymnast filled a shoebox full of small toys, school supplies, toiletries and candy. Those shoeboxes were then given to the Samaritan’s Purse where they will be distributed to children in over 90 different countries whose parents may not have the means to give extras.
The goal of Operation Christmas Child is to bring joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world. Samaritan’s Purse provides the opportunity for people of all ages to be involved in a simple, hands-on mission project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas.
